Biography
Tony Martin is a federal New Democrat MP in Canada responsible in his caucus for social policy, poverty elimination and persons with disabilities.

He was born in Ireland and grew up in the small working class town of Wawa in Northern Ontario, always inspired by his faith, family, culture and experience.
He has been a community organizer, convinced we are all better served through the common good and common effort.
He has been a passionate fighter for Northern jobs and industries. He worked on the successful restructuring of Algoma Steel and St. Mary’s Paper, has aided area farmers in getting necessary assistance, won guarantees for wood and tree supplies for local forestry businesses, introduced successful legislation to improve protections for franchise owners. He has also lobbied successfully for dozens of infrastructure projects throughout his riding.
As a worker and volunteer in churches and community organizations, he has learned that his country of Canada and any country is best served when people remember their history and understand how, against geography, distance, weather and often isolation, they build community and institutions of support.
He has led a worker-owned business, served as a school trustee and been a member of parliament at both the provincial and federal level for almost 20 years.
He married Anna Celetti in 1983 and they have four children.
