(Elaine Della-Mattia, The Sault Star, May 26, 2010)  While House of Commons attendance records may be kept secret, Sault Ste. Marie MP Tony Martin said he's never taken a sick day in his two elected terms.
 
Martin said he completed the monthly self-reporting attendance form required, and his only reasons for absence has been for other government business, such as committee work or travelling for party reasons.

"I haven't even taken a sick day during my six years," Martin said.

Martin Welcomes Legislation, Supports Amendment

OTTAWA -   A federal government plan to strengthen a ban on bulk water exports is good legislation that still needs a big loophole closed, Sault MP Tony Martin said today.

Martin said the legislation would still allow significant water removal for bottled water exports. New Democrats will move amendments to fix the proposed bill that would strengthen the existing ban against bulk water exports by extending it to more than 80 rivers and streams that cross the U.S.-Canada border.

SAULT STE. MARIE – MP Tony Martin announced today that the 2010 Sault ROTARYFEST is set to receive $20,000 from Heritage Canada.

Martin called the festival which is held annually in the city of Sault Ste. Marie, “a great part of our summer season for all its entertainment and cultural programs.”

"On behalf of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, we are thankful to Canadian Heritage for recognizing the cultural components of the festival and their importance to building community in Sault Ste. Marie," said Art Wilhelm, president.
